Chapter 1
One evening, Mr. Doctor at work in the hospital, and his wife, Mrs. Wasteful, was at home all by herself. Mrs. Wasteful thought she would make him some homemade peanut butter, so she put a large bag of peanuts into their food processor. After a few seconds, she added agave syrup for a creamy blend and sweeter taste. And because it is customary in the Wasteful family, she also added chocolate.
Chapter 2
It was not long before Mrs. Wasteful realized that the sugars in the agave were caramelizing and had adhered to the peanut solids, leaving the oils separated. "Perhaps," she reasoned, "the peanut butter will eventually blend back together." So she left the processor running, exacerbating the problem. Mrs. Wasteful is not one to give up easily, so she took down their hand mixer and broke it.
Mrs. Wasteful had now wasted peanuts, agave syrup, chocolate, flour, eggs, and a hand mixer. She then wasted the use of a clean dish and olive oil in order to prepare for baking. She turned on the oven, wasting energy. But, alas! She could not bear to waste the chocolate chips that might salvage the mess, so she threw everything down the drain and turned the oven back off. Mr. Doctor came home to a very messy kitchen after working a long hard day, and saw what his wife had done. He was very disappointed to have lost half a teaspoon of baking powder that never made it into the story.
Story may or may not be based on real life events.
What a depressing ending for a children's story. If only the second wife, Mrs. Marmalade, had been home to help out Mrs. Wasteful instead of galavanting around with her boyfriend!
ReplyDeleteI don't think this should be a children's story. It should be called sisters' story.
